Washington, Jan 26 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump, state governors, members of Congress, and philanthropist Bill Gates commemorated India’s 77th Republic Day with heartfelt messages reflecting mutual democratic values, strong interpersonal connections, and growing collaboration between the two nations.

In a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in India, President Trump extended his congratulations to the Indian government and populace, emphasizing the two nations' shared history as the world’s oldest and largest democracies. He underscored the significance that Washington attributes to the bilateral ties.

Congressman Greg Landsman lauded India’s democratic achievements and its escalating influence on the global stage. He referred to India as “the world’s largest democracy and a valued friend of the United States,” highlighting its role as a pivotal defense against global authoritarianism.

Landsman emphasized that collaboration through initiatives like the Quad and I2U2 is vital for upholding a rules-based international framework.

Congresswoman Kim Schrier remarked that Republic Day symbolizes the inception of the Constitution in the world’s largest democracy and the foundational principles it upholds. She noted that Washington state “holds deep appreciation for the contributions of the Indian and Indian American community to our state's cultural, educational, and economic fabric,” adding that their commitment to innovation, education, and societal welfare enriches broader society.

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden congratulated India on 77 years as a Republic, highlighting the increasing collaboration between the two countries. He mentioned that recent talks with Indian officials centered on agriculture, trade, and tourism, expressing optimism about the future of US-India relations.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte acknowledged the contributions of the Indian and Indian American communities to his state’s cultural, educational, and economic landscapes. He commended their dedication to innovation and learning, wishing India health and prosperity as it celebrated Republic Day.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen referred to Republic Day as a remarkable milestone and a moment for introspection on shared values. He emphasized Nebraska’s appreciation for its partnership with India, citing collaboration in trade, technology, agriculture, and cultural initiatives.

In a video message, Bill Gates, Chair and Board Member of the Gates Foundation, remarked that Republic Day serves as a time to reflect on “the extraordinary promise India made to itself in 1950,” a promise that continues to drive the nation’s aspirations.
