Lucknow, Sep 26 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the distribution of scholarships to nearly four lakh students on Friday. He emphasized that the time of inequity in this scheme has officially concluded.
A total of Rs 89.97 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 3,96,602 students across the state.
The initiative aims to improve the educational landscape and enable children to concentrate on their studies without the burden of financial concerns.
During the event, Yogi noted that previously, scholarships were often delayed and limited, leaving many deserving students without their rightful support.
“Currently, scholarships are directly credited to the students' accounts via DBT. In the past, many were excluded, but now, with the verification process enhanced through technology and Artificial Intelligence, the system is now transparent and inclusive. Minority students are also benefiting from improved facilities,” he stated.
CM Yogi stressed the vital role of education as a cornerstone for social advancement.
“Babasaheb once said that no government can guarantee welfare without quality education. We must utilize the best opportunities offered by the government to progress, rather than relying solely on government support,” he remarked.
He highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to broaden the scholarship program.
CM Yogi also referenced India’s vision for 2047. “This year marks the Centenary Resolution Year. We are advancing with the 2047 Resolution Campaign to establish the groundwork for a prosperous India and a flourishing Uttar Pradesh,” he affirmed.
He cautioned against “divisive forces” that historically enslaved the nation and are now attempting to hinder progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“These forces aim to splinter society. Our mission should be to unify the populace — ensuring that every child, particularly those in need, has access to quality education,” he added.
The Chief Minister reminisced about the discrimination in scholarship distribution before 2017. “Upon our government assuming power in 2017, we cleared the scholarships for both 2016-17 and 2017-18 simultaneously,” he noted.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister ceremonially handed over scholarship checks to selected students.
