Dehradun, Feb 4 (NationPress) In a significant move towards dismantling the Madrasa Board, the Uttarakhand government has established a State Minority Education Authority tasked with overseeing all educational institutions for minorities and regulating their operations, including the development of course curricula and establishing guidelines.
Officials have indicated that the Pushkar Dhami government plans to abolish the Madrasa Board by July 2026, transferring its responsibilities to the newly formed minority education body.

Recognition for these institutions will be managed through the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, he added.
Dr. Parag further noted that distinguished professors and scholars have been appointed to this Authority, responsible for shaping the academic curriculum for minority students, including educators from various minority communities.
Dr. Surjit Singh Gandhi has been named as Chairman, with Prof. Rakesh Jain, Dr. Syed Ali Hamid, Prof. Pema Tenzin, Dr. Elba Medrile, Prof. Robina Aman, and Prof. Gurmeet Singh serving as members.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared with the media that all minority institutions will be required to secure recognition from the Uttarakhand Board of School Education.
"Our government has decided to form the State Minority Education Authority. The decision to abolish the Madrasa Board has already been made. Now, this Authority will determine the type of education provided to minority children and the syllabus that will be taught. All minority institutions will gain recognition from the Uttarakhand Board of School Education," he affirmed.
