Is There a Video Showing the Vandalisation of Radha-Krishna's Idol?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Jan 22 (NationPress) A video claiming to show the destruction of a Radha-Krishna idol in Rangapur village, located in Harischandrapur block of West Bengal's Malda district, has recently gained significant attention online.
The footage reportedly depicts the Radha-Krishna idols along with five other idols, including that of Gaur-Nitai, shattered and discarded in a mango orchard.
However, IANS has not been able to verify the video's authenticity.
Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, posted the video on his official social media account on Thursday.
He asserted that the incident took place on Wednesday night and that local villagers discovered the damage when they arrived for worship.
Adhikari stated, "In West Bengal, temples and deities of Hindus are facing repeated assaults due to the misgovernance of the Mamata administration."
He further accused the Mamata Banerjee government of showing a blatant indifference towards the ongoing attacks on Hindu temples and idols in West Bengal, which has emboldened the perpetrators.
According to Adhikari, "The negligence of Mamata Banerjee's government in addressing these incidents and failing to punish the offenders has led to a rise in attacks on Hindu beliefs day by day."
He anticipates that Hindu voters will hold the Chief Minister accountable in the upcoming crucial Assembly elections, as they fear that a return of the Trinamool Congress to power would result in conditions akin to those faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.
For an extended period, Adhikari has consistently highlighted instances of vandalism at Hindu temples, with the Malda incident being his latest effort to bring these issues to the forefront.
As of the time of this report, there had been no response from either the Trinamool Congress or the Malda district administration regarding the incident.
