Kolkata, Oct 4 (NationPress) Criticizing the Mamata administration for the desecration of 50 Hindu deities' idols, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, asserted on Saturday that a serious conspiracy exists to transform the state into West Bangladesh.

Adhikari utilized his X handle to share images and a video of the incident, which reportedly took place on Friday night in Tamluk, East Midnapore district.

"During the night, jihadists vandalized around 50 idols, including those of Lakshmi and Kali, at Anil Chakra's idol-making factory near Uttar Narkelda Hat, close to Nimtauri High Road in Tamluk, East Midnapore district. These idols were being prepared for the forthcoming Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja," stated Adhikari.

The BJP leader further accused the Mamata Banerjee government of ignoring such assaults, merely for the sake of maintaining its vote bank.

"The citizens of the state have witnessed such idol vandalism by jihadists in various locations before. In fact, a serious conspiracy seems to be unfolding to convert West Bengal into West Bangladesh. The state government is intentionally overlooking these issues to secure 30 percent of the votes, as votes are considered a significant evil," he remarked.

The BJP Nandigram MLA urged the police to act against those responsible for the vandalism.

"I will call upon the police administration to identify the culprits and take necessary measures against them. Otherwise, the production of such jihadists will continue to rise," he added.

The police have indicated that an investigation into the incident is underway.

Following Adhikari's assertions, there was no official statement from the Trinamool Congress regarding the incident. This isn't the first occasion the BJP has criticized the Trinamool Congress for engaging in vote-bank politics.

Over the years, BJP leaders have accused the Trinamool Congress government, led by Mamata Banerjee, of neglecting Hindu concerns in Bengal while favoring infiltrations.
