When Will Former Gujarat CM Rupani's Last Rites Be Held in Rajkot?

Ahmedabad, June 13 (NationPress) The final ceremonies for former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who tragically lost his life in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, are set to take place in Rajkot on Saturday.

Rupani's son, Rishabh Rupani, currently residing in the United States, is on his way to Ahmedabad and is scheduled to arrive at 4 a.m. on Saturday.

In the meantime, Anjali Rupani arrived in Ahmedabad from London on Friday via a special chartered flight and went straight to their home in Gandhinagar.

Many dignitaries have been visiting his residence in Gandhinagar to express their condolences to his wife, Anjali Rupani, and the grieving family.

Numerous senior leaders from the BJP, including Cabinet Minister Mulubhai Bera, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Kuber Dindor, Bhanu Babaria, and Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, have paid their respects at the residence.

Government officials have also visited the bereaved family to show their support during this difficult time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally met with Anjali Rupani and other family members to express his condolences.

In a poignant post on social media platform X, PM Modi stated: "It is unimaginable that Vijaybhai is no longer among us. I have shared a decades-long bond with him. We worked shoulder-to-shoulder during some of the most challenging times. He was humble, sincere, and deeply committed to the party's ideology. Rising through the ranks, Vijaybhai held key positions in the organization and served Gujarat as its Chief Minister with unwavering dedication."

Vijay Rupani embarked on his political journey with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) before becoming an active member of the BJP.

He advanced through the party's ranks, serving as Rajkot Mayor, a Rajya Sabha MP, and the Gujarat BJP President. Renowned for his disciplined and low-profile approach, he held significant portfolios in the state cabinet before being appointed as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2016.

During his leadership, he prioritized infrastructure enhancement, digital governance, and attracting industrial investment to the state.

Rupani remained a loyal party member, executing the BJP's vision with humility and steadfast commitment.

The Air India Dreamliner tragically crashed into the hostel building of B.J. Medical College within the Civil Hospital campus shortly after takeoff, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that claimed the lives of 241 individuals on board.
