Bengaluru, June 26 (NationPress) BJP Karnataka President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra mentioned on Thursday that the announcement regarding new state presidents, including one for Karnataka, will be forthcoming, and he conveyed his optimism that everything will turn out well for him. Speaking to the media, he addressed inquiries concerning the delay in appointments. 'We are a national party. The insights of all leaders have been taken into account. I believe my performance over the last one-and-a-half years has been successful and efficient, a sentiment echoed by our karyakartas and senior leaders. Thus, everything will turn out well—both for you and for me,' he remarked with a smile.
'There is no confusion or delay regarding the appointment of a new state BJP president. The selection process for presidents in 14 states has already been finalized and publicly announced. We have been informed that appointments for 6 to 7 more state presidents, including Karnataka, will be revealed very soon. Following that, the new national president will be announced,' Vijayendra indicated.
Responding to speculation about his recent trip to Delhi, Vijayendra clarified, 'I traveled to Delhi for personal matters. I did not meet any national leaders. My visit was for personal reasons, and I have since returned. Some senior party leaders also traveled to Delhi, and a few are still away. While there’s much speculation about significant developments, these are merely assumptions.'
When questioned about Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka's visit to Delhi, he humorously replied, 'He is the Leader of the Opposition. If you suggest he shouldn't go to Delhi or meet senior leaders, what can I say?'
He added, 'Ashoka is excelling in his role as Leader of Opposition, and MLAs appreciate his efforts. Media speculation regarding a shift in the LoP position is entirely unfounded and misleading... Those who were dissatisfied have already exited the party, and individuals engaging in anti-party activities have been expelled. A few have voiced minor concerns, and recently, I, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, and other senior leaders discussed potential resolutions. Pralhad Joshi has taken charge of this matter. Everything will be alright. There is no reason for alarm.'
In response to former CM D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s assertion that the BJP is akin to 'embers beneath the ashes', Vijayendra stated, 'He is a senior leader. I will meet him tomorrow to discuss. However, I do not concur with his statement. Minor disagreements are commonplace in any party.'
Addressing the Congress's accusation that the BJP is unfairly portraying Indira Gandhi concerning the Emergency, Vijayendra retorted, 'Congress leaders are misguided. Fifty years ago, during Indira Gandhi's premiership, democracy was brutally suppressed.'
Citizens' rights were stripped away, and many were imprisoned. Media was also stifled. Yesterday marked the anniversary of that grim period. The aim is to ensure such a situation never recurs in this nation. It serves as a reminder of how Indira Gandhi undermined democracy to retain power,' he criticized.
'What else should we compare her actions to, if not Hitler’s?' Vijayendra challenged.
On the FIR filed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against a BJP social media post, he affirmed, 'There is no room for fear. Let them file a hundred FIRs. Neither I nor our workers are intimidated. We are prepared to confront it. Such threats and goondaism will not prevail.'
He questioned the credibility of the Congress-led government, stating, 'Currently, the people of Karnataka are expressing their discontent with the Congress government. Simply calling MLAs like B.R. Patil and Raju Kage for a hasty meeting will not resolve anything. B.R. Patil is a senior MLA. He directly accused the government of extorting Rs 10,000 from impoverished individuals for housing. Ministers need to refrain from making reckless statements,' he urged.
'This government is inept at executing development initiatives. Farmers are suffering due to excessive rainfall. Fertilizer and seeds are scarce across various taluks and districts. Rather than addressing these challenges, this administration is engaging in mischief and corruption, intoxicated by power. Their governance will not endure for long,' Vijayendra cautioned.
