Chennai, Nov 22 (NationPress) The leader of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, is poised to speak at a specially organized indoor public gathering at Sunguvarchathram in the Kanchipuram district on November 23, marking his re-entry into political engagements.

This event, limited to approximately 2,000 invited attendees, comes after the Police Department declined permission for his planned rally in Salem on December 4.

Vijay had previously been holding extensive campaign events every Saturday in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections.

However, his statewide tour was unexpectedly interrupted following a tragic incident at Velusamipuram in Karur on September 27, which resulted in the loss of 41 lives during a public rally.

This shocking event reverberated across the nation, leading Vijay to halt all political activities.

As the election season approaches, the TVK leader intends to resume his political outreach with a significant rally in Salem on December 4.

His party has formally applied for police approval for this event; however, the Salem City Police denied the request, citing various limitations.

Officials noted that a substantial number of police officers from the district will be assigned outside Salem on December 4, making it impossible to allocate sufficient personnel for crowd management at Vijay's rally.

The police also indicated that the application was missing essential information, such as the anticipated turnout, which is crucial for evaluating security and logistical needs.

In light of the denial, Vijay has organized a controlled and fully indoor public gathering in Kanchipuram.

This meeting will be hosted at a private engineering college in Sunguvarchathram, with strict entry regulations, allowing attendance only to those who have received prior approval from the party.

The TVK has submitted a formal petition to the police inspector in Sunguvarchathram requesting necessary security arrangements for the meeting, which is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 23. This event will mark Vijay's first public appearance since the tragedy in Karur.

In recent weeks, the actor-turned-politician has refrained from campaign rallies and foreign travel as the party reviewed safety protocols for future events.

The meeting on November 23 is anticipated to symbolize a cautious and well-considered return to the activities of the TVK ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
