New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) In the wake of ongoing violence in Bangladesh, Vinod Bansal, the National Spokesperson for Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), stated on Saturday that the nation has become a hotspot for Islamic jihadist extremists. He emphasized that the inhumane atrocities being inflicted upon Hindus and other non-Muslims are disgraceful for all of humanity.
Bansal remarked to IANS, "Bangladesh has transformed into a center for Islamic jihadist extremists. The brutalities against Hindus and other non-Muslims are a shame for the entire world. The recent murder of Deepu Chandra Das, who was allegedly beaten, hanged from a tree, and then burned, poses a significant challenge for global humanity."
He further alleged that extremists in Bangladesh have not only attacked major media houses but have also targeted Indian embassies.
"This extremist Islamic ideology is not just suppressing individuals but is also attempting to destroy everything. The Bangladesh government and administration are mere bystanders. The United Nations and the United Nations Human Rights Commission have failed to condemn these incidents, which is incredibly disappointing," he told IANS.
Bansal voiced concern regarding the perceived lack of response within India.
"It is profoundly troubling when Hindus are assaulted by Islamic jihadists, whether globally or in our vicinity. In such dire moments, numerous opposition leaders in India choose silence, as if their voices have been stifled. These occurrences are alarming, disgraceful, and represent a grave threat to humanity," he added.
Earlier on Saturday, Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh interim government, announced that at least seven individuals were apprehended in relation to the lynching and brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das over allegations of blasphemy.
"Regarding the incident of the brutal killing of Sanatan Dharma adherent youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven suspects," Yunus stated in a post on X.
The suspects include Limon Sarkar, Tarek Hossain, Manik Mia, Ershad Ali, Nijum Uddin, Alomgir Hossain, and Miraj Hossain Akon.
RAB-14 conducted operations at various locations leading to the arrests of these suspects.
The shocking event transpired on Thursday night at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory in the Square Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila.
The deceased, 30-year-old Dipu Chandra Das, was a factory worker residing in Tarakanda Upazila of Mymensingh.
According to local media outlet Barta Bazar, Dipu was accused of making derogatory remarks about Islam and Prophet Muhammad during a World Arabic Language Day event at the factory. This accusation quickly spread, leading to heightened tensions. He was subsequently attacked by an angry mob and reportedly succumbed on the spot.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that after his death, the mob desecrated his body, tying it to a tree, beating it while chanting slogans, and ultimately setting it ablaze.
Md. Firoz Hossain, the Bhaluka Upazila Executive Officer, confirmed the incident, stating a person was killed over claims of insulting the Prophet, with the deceased's body now in police custody.
Former Bangladesh Minister and Awami League leader Mohammad Ali Arafat vehemently condemned the event, asserting that Bangladesh is progressively moving towards full-scale radicalism under the leadership of the interim government led by Yunus.
Bangladesh has seen a surge in violence against minorities, particularly Hindus, under the Yunus-led interim government, inciting outrage among citizens and various human rights organizations globally.
