Former J&K DGP Vaid Calls on PM Modi to Spotlight Atrocities Against Hindus in Bangladesh

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) S.P. Vaid, the ex-Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, voiced serious apprehensions on Thursday regarding the persistent violence and atrocities faced by the Hindu minority in Bangladesh, appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the matter on an international level.

He stressed the necessity for PM Modi, who is recognized globally as a prominent leader, to take action and discuss this issue on platforms such as the United Nations.

"We have all appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to leverage his esteemed position. He is not just a significant figure in India but is well-respected worldwide. Every nation listens to him," Vaid remarked.

Vaid pointed out the critical condition of the Hindu minority, which comprises nearly 1.5 crore individuals in Bangladesh, condemning the violence and alleged genocide being perpetrated against them. He asserted that India must actively engage in efforts to halt these atrocities and urge Bangladesh to restore law and order.

"The atrocities occurring in Bangladesh against the Hindu minority, particularly the genocide being conducted, require India’s intervention to stop this and make a statement. Bangladesh should be compelled to act against the street violence that reflects a lack of law and order. The police and military appear to be mere observers in this scenario," the former DGP commented.

In reference to the recent apprehension of ISKCON's Chinmoy Krishna Das under what he termed as 'fake and fabricated charges,' Vaid expressed his indignation.

"The arrest of ISKCON's Chinmoy Krishna Das due to what appears to be a fabricated case should not be tolerated. PM Modi, as a global leader, should advocate at the UN and with international organizations against the situation in Bangladesh. The actions occurring there may be influenced by external pressures, including from America," he alleged.

Das, a notable Hindu leader and spokesman for the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote, was arrested on Monday and subsequently presented before a court in Chittagong, which denied his bail request and ordered his detention.

A sedition case has been lodged against Das, accusing him of raising a flag on a stand featuring the national flag of Bangladesh. However, the complainant has since indicated a lack of interest in pursuing the case, according to a minority leader.

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC), the largest minority organization in Bangladesh, voiced concerns on Tuesday over Das's arrest and urged the interim government to release him without delay.

S.P. Vaid also denounced the desecration of Hindu temples and idols in Bangladesh, calling for an immediate cessation of such vandalism.

"Minorities possess the right to protest against violations of their rights. The vandalism of Hindu temples and idols is reprehensible and must be stopped," he stated.
