Patna, May 30 (NationPress) Tragically, two women were brutally stabbed to death in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Friday, while another sustained life-threatening injuries.
The victims, identified as Santara Devi and her daughter, Ruma Kumari, were discovered in an agricultural field, with another daughter, Amrita Kumari, in critical condition.
This horrific incident took place in Laveda Purva Tola village, under the jurisdiction of the Nokha police station.
Law enforcement officials reported that the victims were found in a field near the roadway, and their bodies have been transported to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for autopsy. Meanwhile, Amrita is receiving treatment at the same medical facility.
“We were alerted to the situation early Friday morning. The victims were discovered unconscious in the field suffering from multiple stab wounds. Upon our examination, we confirmed that two of them had passed away at the scene. Investigations are ongoing to determine the perpetrators. No formal complaint has been filed yet, as we await a report from the victims’ family,” explained Dinesh Kumar, SHO of Nokha police.
Witnesses reported that the family had ventured out to irrigate their moong (green gram) field when they were allegedly attacked by unknown assailants armed with sharp weapons.
Santara Devi, a widow, supported her family through farming activities. Police are investigating all possible leads.
In a separate incident, a young man known as Sikandar Prasad, a painting contractor, was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in Mathurapur village, under the Nursarai police jurisdiction in Nalanda district.
His wife, Julie Kumari, reported that Sikandar was en route to his workplace when he was ambushed by the assailants.
This incident triggered immediate unrest in the community, prompting locals to inform the police.
Shortly thereafter, DSP Sanjay Jaiswal arrived at the scene with teams from Nursarai, Rahui, Nalanda, Bena, and Bhaganbigha police stations.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also arrived, gathering evidence from the scene.
“At first glance, this seems to be a case of personal conflict, but we are not dismissing any possibilities. We are reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas and gathering scientific evidence,” stated DSP Jaiswal to reporters.
In both cases, police have called on the community to share any information or leads that may assist in the investigations.
