Who Was Behind the Shooting of a Local VIP Leader in Bihar's East Champaran?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Nov 21 (NationPress) A local leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) was tragically shot dead by two individuals on a motorcycle in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Friday. The incident took place at approximately 6 a.m. in Tinkoni village, within the jurisdiction of the Darpa police station, as the victim, Kameshwar Sahani (50), was making his way back home.
Sahani, who was the district in-charge of VIP’s Raxaul unit, had reportedly left his house early to wash his hands at the entrance when two unidentified assailants approached on a motorcycle and opened fire.
In the attack, Sahani suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Upon receiving notification, police from the Darpa police station arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and arranged for a post-mortem.
Authorities collected forensic evidence, including spent bullets, from the site, and a forensic team was summoned to assist in the investigation.
The inquiry is being conducted under the oversight of the Raxaul SDPO, with officials exploring various angles.
A relative, Rajesh Kumar, claimed that the shooting occurred directly outside Sahani’s residence and implied that it might be connected to either an ongoing personal feud or a political conflict. The family is devastated.
Police sources revealed that Sahani had a history of several criminal cases and was an active political figure closely associated with VIP leader Mukesh Sahani.
“It is too early to classify this as a political or personal matter. We are gathering evidence and reviewing CCTV footage from the area,” stated Swarn Prabhat, Superintendent of Police, East Champaran.
VIP District President Ashok Sahani condemned the attack as part of a larger conspiracy and called for a comprehensive police investigation to ensure the prompt arrest of those responsible.
An FIR has been filed under the relevant sections of the IPC for murder and criminal conspiracy against two unidentified suspects at the Darpa police station.
