New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) In a surprising turn of events, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah contradicted Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar's earlier assertion that a cabinet reshuffle was off the table. Siddaramaiah emphasized that the high command would ultimately determine the course of action regarding this matter.
Siddaramaiah recounted that the high command had previously approached him about a potential cabinet reshuffle approximately four to five months ago. He firmly expressed his belief that it was not the right time for such a decision and suggested waiting until the Congress-led government reached the two-and-a-half-year mark.
As of November 20, the government will indeed mark this duration. Siddaramaiah stated that all 142 Congress MLAs rightfully deserve a position in the cabinet.
When questioned about the criteria for a potential reshuffle, CM Siddaramaiah responded that all decisions would align with high command directives.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara commented that there have been no discussions regarding a reshuffle. Similarly, Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa reiterated that the decision rests with the high command.
“The matter is left to the AICC President and the Chief Minister. We are scheduled to meet with the AICC President in Delhi,” he stated.
Senior Congress MLA Vijayananda Kashappanavar expressed his strong aspirations for a cabinet position, noting that he has discussed this with Siddaramaiah and highlighted the contributions of his family to the party. He remains optimistic about securing a cabinet berth.
Another prominent leader, Prasad Abbaiah, also declared himself a strong contender for a ministerial role, emphasizing his repeated electoral victories and the support from various societal segments, including minorities and Dalits.
Senior Congress leader Saleem Ahmad expressed his confidence in receiving an opportunity during the cabinet reshuffle. “We have already communicated our demands to party leaders,” he affirmed.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had dismissed the possibility of such a reshuffle.
