Bengaluru, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have initiated an FIR against five individuals, including a woman, following a complaint lodged by Pushpa, the mother of Kannada superstar Yash and a film producer. The FIR targets PRO Harish along with four other suspects.
This case was registered at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The accused are Harish Urs, Manu, Nitin, Mahesh Guru, and Swarnalatha.
As per police reports, Pushpa, who produced the film 'Kottalawadi', claims the accused misappropriated Rs 64 lakh and failed to promote the movie. Instead of support, they allegedly engaged in actions that detracted from its visibility. Pushpa has accused them of blackmail and issuing threats.
Speaking to reporters, Pushpa stated, “The accused, Harish Urs, received payments from us for film publicity, initially agreeing on Rs 23 lakh for his services. He demanded more money during filming and later threatened the director, stating he would ensure the film was de-promoted if financial accounts were requested.”
“We remained quiet and sought clarification after filming concluded. The accused continued to intimidate the director and blackmailed him for additional funds. In light of this, we secured an injunction from the court and filed a police report,” she elaborated.
“The film was completed over a year ago. Swarnalatha and Guru threatened the director, claiming to have media connections that could generate negative publicity against me and the director,” she added.
“All documentation pertaining to the threats has been submitted to the police. We also made a report to the Film Chamber of Commerce and the PR Association in Bengaluru. Given our celebrity status, we wish to avoid complications, hence the police complaint,” Pushpa explained.
“The blackmail commenced a week prior to the film's release, and until now, there has been no accounting of how the funds were utilized. His two accomplices have been propagating false claims that they did not receive any payments from Yash and his family,” she stated.
“Following the film's release, a wave of negative propaganda emerged. Many others have also been victimized by him, but they remain reluctant to come forward,” she concluded.
