Amaravati, March 25 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party has charged the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of exploiting the Parliament to disseminate falsehoods regarding the purported liquor scandal during their administration.

YSRCP representatives also pointed out that the coalition has significantly failed to secure financial support from the Centre, leaving pressing state issues unresolved.

During separate press briefings held on Tuesday, Tirupati MP M. Gurumoorthy and former minister Perni Nani stated that the TDP-led alliance is misusing Lok Sabha time by leveling unfounded accusations against YSRCP officials.

TDP MP Lavu Krishna Devarayalu discussed the 'non-existent' liquor scam but neglected to address the allegations against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding the skill development case, as noted by Gurumoorthy.

They asserted that the coalition has disregarded all its election commitments, claiming that the public is increasingly disillusioned with the governance.

Furthermore, the ruling coalition is reportedly fabricating cases against YSRCP members and subjecting them to harassment, they alleged. Despite having 21 members in the House, the coalition MPs have failed to secure the necessary funds for the state, they remarked.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Monday, TDP floor leader Devarayalu alleged a substantial liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh from 2019-2024, coinciding with the period of the YSRCP governance.

Devarayalu claimed that corruption in the state’s liquor sector has exceeded that of the Delhi Excise Policy scandal, accusing the previous ruling YSR Congress Party of monopolizing liquor production, engaging in extensive financial misconduct, and misappropriating public funds.

YSRCP leaders contended that Chief Minister Naidu lacks influence at the Centre and is attempting to entangle his opponents in various cases.

The TDP is allegedly trying to implicate Peddiraddi Ramachandra Reddy, despite his lack of involvement with the Excise Department. They are also attempting to involve Rajkasireddy and Mithun Reddy in the case, tarnishing the reputation of the police department, according to Gurumoorthy.

He stated that after Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed power, he shut down 43,000 belt shops and shortened liquor sale hours. In this context, he questioned, who would bribe whom?

Perni Nani emphasized that YSRCP has not authorized any liquor brand, while CM Naidu has granted permission to all brands available in the market.
