Amaravati, Oct 15 (NationPress) YSR Congress Party leader and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy has claimed that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is behind a well-planned political scheme in the spurious liquor case, aimed at shielding the liquor mafia associated with TDP while wrongly accusing YSRCP leaders.
Kakani pointed out that the network of illicit liquor production has only flourished under the current coalition government and has direct connections to TDP leaders, including close allies of Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh.
The former minister made these remarks during a press conference at the YSRCP’s office in Nellore district.
He emphasized that instead of addressing the actual perpetrators behind this hazardous network, the government has resorted to a propaganda campaign, implicating former Minister Jogi Ramesh through a manipulated video released by the accused Janardhan Rao.
Kakani asserted that the facts have been corroborated by government officials themselves. On October 3, authorities seized illegal spurious liquor manufacturing units in Mulakalacheruvu and uncovered a vast illegal liquor storage facility in Ibrahimpatnam.
Excise Assistant Commissioner Chandrasekhar Reddy and the Deputy Commissioner confirmed that this counterfeit liquor operation has been active for the past two to three months, notably under the current coalition government.
Fearing public discontent, Chandrababu Naidu has started to propagate a misleading narrative that this mafia was operational during the YSRCP administration, despite lacking any evidence to substantiate his claims, Kakani said.
Govardhan Reddy accused Janardhan Rao of releasing a second scripted video on October 13, which directly contradicted his initial video from October 6, where he made no mention of Jogi Ramesh.
He posed several pressing questions, demanding answers from the Chief Minister: If Janardhan Rao truly named Jogi Ramesh, why is his name absent from the remand report to the court? How could a second video have been recorded and leaked just 24 hours after Janardhan Rao was remanded in Nellore? Who was prompting Janardhan Rao off-camera in that video? If Chandrababu Naidu asserts that the police raids were based on government intelligence, why implicate Jogi Ramesh? And why was there no custody petition filed to interrogate Janardhan Rao, unlike in other cases?
