Dhaka, Oct 10 (NationPress) A recent discussion involving the Ambassadors of Norway, Denmark, and The Netherlands with Awami League figure Saber Hossain Chowdhury, a former Minister in Sheikh Hasina's administration, has emerged amidst calls from several British lawmakers for the reinstatement of the rule of law in Bangladesh, as reported on Friday.

This highlights the escalating movement led by expatriate Bangladeshi citizens and others advocating not only for a return to stability in Bangladesh but also for the full involvement of the Awami League in any future elections.

“This should be a concerning scenario for the unconstitutional regime led by Mohammad Yunus. Recently, there has been much speculation regarding some advisors within the regime contemplating a safe exit from the country. Such thoughts have gained traction due to comments from factions within the king's party, the National Citizen Party (NCP), who are evidently disillusioned by the regime's inability to execute their plans over the past fourteen months,” noted Bangladeshi journalist, historian, and political analyst Syed Badrul Ahsan in Northeast News.

Ahsan remarked that the youth activists from the Awami League and its affiliated groups are increasingly emboldened to voice their dissent against the Yunus-led interim government.

“Their enthusiastic chanting of the Joi Bangla slogan demonstrates a clear defiance against those who seized power in August of last year. If social media sentiments are any indication, the interim government will likely find itself engulfed in a multitude of challenges in the forthcoming months. This reality is certainly noted by the diplomatic circles in Dhaka, which is a reason behind the three envoys' meeting with Saber Hossain Chowdhury,” he added.

According to the report, Bangladesh's political landscape is experiencing profound transformations. The pressing question now is not merely whether the Awami League will assert itself but whether the elections scheduled for next year will occur under new frameworks.

Earlier on Tuesday, a European Union delegation engaged with Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders in Dhaka, emphasizing that upcoming elections must be free, fair, inclusive, and credible. This development poses a new challenge for the Yunus administration, arriving just a day after the three ambassadors conferred with Saber Hossain Chowdhury.

“The biased nature of the Yunus regime will hinder its capability to facilitate elections that could restore constitutional governance in the country. Given its track record, the regime is ill-prepared to oversee elections,” the report concluded.
