Mumbai, Feb 13 (NationPress) Veteran actress Zeenat Aman confessed that there was a period when she felt embarrassed about her inability to cook. However, she quickly reminded herself that she has been providing meals for her family since her teenage years.

Zeenat shared her thoughts on her Instagram stories, posting a series of images. The first image depicted her gazing into the fridge, while the subsequent images showcased her daily food intake. The last image, dating back to the 1980s, portrayed her engaging in household tasks for a photoshoot.

In her caption, she stated: “A completely staged image of me ‘cooking’ was once featured in a magazine during the 80s. I cheerfully posed for it, but the reality is that the most I can manage in the kitchen is to boil an egg for my cat Lily. Nevertheless, food holds immense joy in my life, and serendipitously, my younger child has become an exceptional chef who occasionally treats me to exquisite home-cooked meals.”

She mentioned that her mother taught her a fundamental principle: “eat small, eat fresh.”

“Food is vital. Long before the era of nutritionists, dieticians, and personal trainers, my mother instilled in me the value of eating small, fresh meals. Now, sharing what’s on your plate seems to be a social media trend. So here are my offerings, honoring both social media culture and my mother’s teachings: I start my mornings with a cup of black tea and a bowl of soaked, peeled almonds.”

“For the past few years, my breakfast typically consists of smashed avocado on sourdough toast with chunks of cheddar cheese. However, if I’m craving a touch of desi flavors, I’ll switch it up with a chilla or poha.”

Zeenat considers lunch to be her “heaviest meal of the day.”

“The menu items are quite simple - dal, sabzi, roti, and some accompaniments. Today, I enjoyed a deliciously tangy khatti dal, matar aloo in hara masala, paneer tikka, and a delightful homemade tomato chutney. Evening snacks are a must, so around 5 PM daily, my trusty aide Aijaz roasts me a bowl of makhana seasoned with light spices. Crunchy, light, and nutritionist-approved!”

Speaking about the highlight of her eating day, she said: “The best part of my day is when I indulge my sweet tooth. I try to be mindful of my sugar intake, but I refuse to eliminate this pleasure from my life.”

“These indulgent, smooth, and rich squares from Royce are a current favorite. I could easily finish an entire box in one sitting, but I strive to limit myself to two squares at a time!

Sharing a personal anecdote, Zeenat disclosed: “I used to feel embarrassed about not being able to cook, yet I reminded myself that I have been providing meals for my family since my teenage years! That’s something to be proud of, right? Now, I’d love to hear about your favorite healthy treats or delivery services!
