The ESI scheme in India serves as a social security system aimed at providing financial and medical support to employees in instances of sickness, maternity, disability, and fatalities due to work-related injuries. It also offers medical care to insured individuals and their families. The scheme is applicable to factories and various establishments, including shops, hotels, and educational institutions, having a specified number of employees.
It is essential to note that the payroll data is provisional, as data generation is an ongoing process.
In June, the figures indicated that out of the 19.37 lakh employees added, 9.58 lakh employees—around 49.5 percent of total registrations—were also from the younger age group of up to 25 years.
