Mumbai, Feb 6 (NationPress) Telecom giant Bharti Airtel announced a remarkable boost in its net profit for the third quarter (Q3 FY25), reaching Rs 14,781 crore, primarily driven by exceptional items from the consolidation of Indus Towers.
After accounting for these exceptional items, the company reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 5,514 crore, reflecting a 121% surge compared to Rs 2,442 crore from the same quarter last year (Q3 FY24).
Revenue from operations saw a 19% year-on-year (YoY) increase, totaling Rs 45,129 crore, bolstered by strong performance in India and consistent growth in Africa.
“We achieved another solid quarter as the consolidation of Indus Towers took effect in Q3,” stated Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director.
He emphasized that the company’s balance sheet is robust, supported by strong cash flow, careful capital management, and ongoing debt reduction.
“Simultaneously, we believe the industry needs to address tariff adjustments to sustain investments and generate long-term value,” Vittal remarked.
Airtel’s EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) grew by 24% YoY to Rs 24,480 crore, partly due to the consolidation of Indus Towers over 43 days in the quarter.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) also increased, reaching Rs 245 compared to Rs 208 in the same quarter last year.
Airtel expanded its leadership in the postpaid segment by adding 0.6 million new customers in Q3, bringing its total postpaid user base to 25.3 million.
Airtel Business continued its robust trajectory with an 8.7% YoY revenue increase.
Additionally, the home broadband segment maintained its growth trend, reporting a 19% revenue increase.
Net customer additions in this segment reached an unprecedented 674,000, fueled by demand for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fixed wireless access (FWA) services.
However, the digital TV segment experienced a 3% YoY decline in revenue.
The company’s passive infrastructure services contributed 5.7% to its overall revenue growth within India.
