A Significant Majority of Indian Businesses Believe Cloud Transformation Drives AI Adoption: Study

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) A striking 90% of Indian enterprises now assert that their journey towards cloud transformation serves as a vital catalyst for AI adoption, as reported on Wednesday. 67% of these companies are actively migrating their applications to the cloud, which underscores the country's dedication to innovation and efficiency, as highlighted by an EY India report.
Many Indian firms are opting for a hybrid model, with 80% managing their enterprise applications through a combination of cloud and on-premises solutions. This strategic balance enables flexibility while facilitating a gradual shift towards complete cloud adoption.
“The swift uptake of cloud technology in India transcends mere technological enhancement. It represents a transformational shift that allows businesses to rethink their operational frameworks, products, and services,” stated Abhinav Johri, Technology Consulting Partner at EY India.
By harnessing cloud technology to foster AI capabilities, organizations can adapt more swiftly to changing client demands and market dynamics, thereby providing enhanced value through AI-driven solutions, he further elaborated.
The integration of AI and machine learning into business operations has emerged as a significant advantage, with 37% of Indian firms indicating that these technologies are essential for driving product and service innovation post-cloud migration.
Approximately 37% of domestic companies recognized enhanced innovation as the key benefit of developing applications in the cloud, as opposed to creating them on-premises and then migrating. Following this, 29% cited improved monitoring of carbon emissions as another advantage, according to the report.
While 25% of Indian firms identify skills and capability gaps as a major obstacle to developing cloud-native applications, this figure contrasts with 38% globally. Cybersecurity concerns and budget limitations are also significant challenges faced by these companies.
The incorporation of AI and machine learning into business processes has become a transformative asset, they noted.
“This signifies a new era of advancement, potentially positioning India as a global leader,” remarked Johri.
