New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) On Saturday, Air India revealed the revival of its codeshare agreement with its Star Alliance ally, Air Canada, effective December 2, 2025. This initiative is set to enhance one-ticket connectivity between India and six Canadian destinations, providing travelers with additional flight options and strengthening ties between India and Canada.
This agreement allows Air India to extend its reach, granting customers access to six points in Canada beyond its hubs in Vancouver and London (Heathrow), as per the statement.
Through this partnership, Air India will affix its AI designator on Air Canada flights traveling from Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montréal, and Halifax.
Additionally, the AI designator will also appear on Air Canada services from London Heathrow to Vancouver and Calgary.
In return, Air Canada passengers will enjoy seamless domestic connectivity within India, reaching Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kochi via Delhi, as well as to Delhi and Mumbai through London (Heathrow).
Travelers with itineraries involving flights from both airlines can book on a single ticket and will benefit from a consolidated baggage allowance.
Frequent flyers will continue to earn and redeem points or miles across both airlines, and elite members of Air India's Maharaja Club loyalty program can still avail Star Alliance Gold advantages on Air Canada-operated flights, which include priority services, increased baggage allowance, and complimentary access to airport lounges, according to the statement.
"Every year, over two million individuals travel between India and Canada, reuniting families, enabling students to fulfill their aspirations, and allowing businesses to thrive. The restoration of our partnership with Air Canada simplifies travel for thousands on a daily basis," stated Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Air India.
The airline mentioned that codeshare flights will gradually become available for booking through both airlines' respective channels and global travel agents post-regulatory approvals.
