Guwahati, July 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared on Monday that the investment summit 'Advantage Assam', conducted in February of this year, is yielding positive results by attracting numerous investment initiatives to the state, as per government officials.
CM Sarma noted that the Advantage Assam event transcended the boundaries of a mere investment summit; it laid the groundwork for Assam's evolution into a significant multi-sector growth hub.
He stated, "In line with the commitments made during the summit, the #AssamCabinet has sanctioned land for both Medanta Hospital and Lemon Tree Hotel in Guwahati."
On the social media platform X, the Chief Minister unveiled plans for a 500-bed super-specialty Medanta Hospital along with a 100-bed Women and Child Hospital located in the center of Guwahati.
This initiative also includes the establishment of a five-star Lemon Tree Hotel, aiming to boost medical and leisure tourism in the region.
"PROMISES IN MOTION," CM Sarma emphasized, underscoring that these projects are not only infrastructural enhancements but also catalysts for job creation and economic expansion.
The combined investment for these initiatives is projected to exceed Rs 800 crore, creating over 2,700 direct job opportunities.
The Chief Minister highlighted that these new facilities will greatly improve access to advanced healthcare services in the area, especially concerning specialized treatment and maternal care.
Officials anticipate that the integration of premium healthcare and hospitality services will establish Guwahati as a regional center for both domestic and international patients, while also addressing the increasing demand for high-quality urban infrastructure in Assam.
These projects form part of the state government's broader strategy to transform Assam into a welcoming destination for investments, complete with modern amenities, job prospects, and enhanced public services.
Previously, CM Sarma indicated that Assam's industrial scene is on the brink of a revolutionary transformation, thanks to the remarkable success of the investment summit Advantage Assam 2.0, which has drawn investments totaling at least Rs 4.5 lakh crore.
"Sectors such as hydrocarbons, which we excel in, along with mines and minerals, have drawn the majority of investments. Our aim is to restore Assam's status as a developed industrial state akin to what it was in 1947. Assam was the pioneering industrial state of India," he added.
