New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has announced a call for expressions of interest (EoI) for a feasibility study concerning a potential undersea power interconnector linking the UAE and India.
The Emirati state-owned enterprise has invited consultants to submit their proposals by January 31 to conduct a techno-economic feasibility study.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the long-term technical, economic, and market potential of power trading between the UAE and India.
The assessment will encompass route surveys, analysis of energy exchange possibilities, cost-benefit evaluations, grid impact studies, and optimization of interconnector capacity through sensitivity analyses, as stated by the company.
In addition to technical evaluations, the study will also focus on detailed cost estimates, supply chain aspects, and timelines for implementation.
Legal and regulatory assessments, commercial frameworks, and comprehensive risk evaluations will be included in the scope of work.
The feasibility report must detail sustainable financing options, ownership and operational frameworks, and strategies for revenue optimization, along with an implementation timeline.
Consultants will also assist in drafting tender documents and technical specifications for subsequent phases of the project.
In June 2023, discussions between India and the UAE were held regarding the establishment of a grid connection via undersea cables as part of the “one sun, one world, one grid” initiative, as reported.
