Glenmark Pharma Q2 FY27: Net profit falls 57% to ₹264 crore, revenue drops 30%
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals posted a steep 56.7 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹264 crore for the second quarter of FY27 (July–September 2026), compared with ₹610 crore in the same period last year, according to the company's stock exchange filing. Revenue from operations fell sharply as well, casting a shadow over an otherwise resilient underlying business.
Key Financial Highlights
Revenue from operations dropped 29.8 per cent to ₹4,247.3 crore in Q2 FY27, down from ₹6,046.8 crore in Q2 FY26. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 63.4 per cent to ₹864 crore from ₹2,360 crore, with the EBITDA margin contracting sharply to 20 per cent from 39 per cent a year earlier. The company attributed a significant portion of the year-on-year variance to the non-recurrence of deferred out-licensing income recognised in the prior-year period, particularly related to ISB 2001.
Segment Performance
Not all segments were under pressure. The India formulations business delivered a standout performance, with revenue rising to ₹1,327.4 crore and registering like-for-like growth of approximately 14 per cent year-on-year. In North America, reported revenue stood at ₹1,208.9 crore; however, the company noted that excluding the base effect of the deferred ISB 2001 out-licensing income, core North American business grew around 31 per cent year-on-year. European operations held steady, with revenue increasing 6.2 per cent to ₹792 crore, while emerging markets delivered the strongest segment growth at 33.2 per cent, taking revenue to ₹876.9 crore.
Innovation and Pipeline Progress
Glenmark's respiratory brand RYALTRIS continued its global expansion, with a recent launch in Brazil marking a new geographic milestone. The company's partnered oncology pipeline is advancing toward commercialisation, with the first product launch expected by the end of FY27. The innovation subsidiary IGI is making progress on its multispecific oncology pipeline — Phase 1 data for ISB 2001 has been selected for oral presentation at the 2026 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting, and the company plans to file an investigational new drug (IND) application for ISB 2301 before the close of the calendar year.
Management Outlook and Market Reaction
Despite the headline decline in earnings, Glenmark's management affirmed that the underlying business remained resilient and reiterated that the company is on track to meet its FY27 annual guidance. Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals ended 0.65 per cent lower at ₹2,485.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ahead of the earnings announcement. The muted market reaction suggests investors had largely priced in the base-effect drag from the high-income quarter a year ago. All eyes will now turn to the second half of FY27, when fresh pipeline milestones and emerging-market momentum could help restore margin optics.
