Google Names Preeti Lobana as New Country Manager and VP for India

New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) Google has officially appointed Preeti Lobana as its latest Country Manager and Vice President for India.
In this capacity, she will lead Google India’s sales and operations, enhancing the company's dedication to the rapidly growing digital economy in the region.
According to Sanjay Gupta, President of Asia-Pacific at Google, “Her leadership and dedication to customer-centric solutions have enabled transformative outcomes for various businesses, helping millions to succeed in the digital landscape.”
He further emphasized, “Her guidance will be crucial as we strengthen our connections within India’s distinct ecosystem, utilizing AI innovations like Gemini 2.0 to promote digital inclusion and unearth remarkable economic prospects for all Indians.”
In her new position, Lobana will collaborate with Roma Datta Chobey, who served as the interim Country Manager and will maintain her role as Managing Director for Google India’s Digital Native Industries.
Lobana expressed that the vibrant energy of India combined with Google’s state-of-the-art technology forms a potent alliance.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity to influence the future through AI, unlocking remarkable possibilities for businesses to enhance productivity, address pressing challenges, and generate innovative solutions,” she stated.
Previously, Lobana held the position of Vice President at Google, overseeing gTech - Process, Partner, Publisher Operations, Ads Content, and Quality Operations.
Before joining Google, she occupied leadership roles at NatWest Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and ANZ Grindlays Bank.
As per the latest reports, Google India achieved a net profit of ₹1,424.9 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2024, reflecting a 6.1% increase from the previous year’s profit of ₹1,342.5 crore.
The total income for the company stood at ₹7,097.5 crore for FY24, which included ₹5,921.1 crore from ongoing operations and ₹1,176.4 crore from discontinued operations, as reported by the business intelligence platform Tofler.
Additionally, Google India's other income soared to ₹403 crore, marking a 106% jump from ₹195 crore in FY23.
The company has set an ambitious goal to equip 10 million individuals with AI digital literacy, targeting students, job seekers, educators, startups, developers, and government officials.
