Greater Noida, Sep 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida on Thursday, describing it as a crucial milestone in India's journey towards economic growth and self-reliance.
During his address, PM Modi welcomed entrepreneurs, investors, and youth from all over the country, highlighting that over 2,200 exhibitors are displaying their innovative products and services at this five-day event, set to conclude on September 29.
He praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the successful execution of the show, noting that this year, Russia is the partner country.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Prime Minister emphasized the principle of Antyodaya—ensuring that development reaches the most marginalized and disadvantaged individuals.
“Development should be accessible to all, and we must eliminate discrimination. This is the essence of Antyodaya and embodies the strength of social justice,” he stated.
PM Modi highlighted that initiatives like UPI, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal have created a robust foundation for an economic transformation.
He pointed out that more than 2.5 million service providers are now linked to GeM, with the government procuring goods and services worth over Rs 15 lakh crore through this platform—Rs 7 lakh crore of which comes from MSMEs, thereby boosting small businesses.
Referring to GST as a “historic reform,” he noted that it has significantly reduced the tax burden on families and businesses.
“Before 2014, a shirt priced at Rs 1,000 was taxed at Rs 117. Now, it incurs just Rs 35 in taxes,” he explained, mentioning that most essential commodities are taxed at only 5 percent, which benefits farmers, laborers, and consumers alike.
Encouraging entrepreneurs to bolster India's manufacturing sector, PM Modi stated, “Everything we can produce in India should be made in India. From chips to ships, we must manufacture here. The government stands firmly beside you.”
He stressed that there should be no compromise on quality and called for a strong ecosystem of indigenous research, design, and development.
The Prime Minister remarked that Uttar Pradesh currently leads the nation in expressways and is constructing the highest number of international airports. He highlighted dedicated freight corridors and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, stating that these have granted local products international recognition.
Noting the rising significance of Uttar Pradesh in India’s industrial framework, he mentioned that the state now accounts for 55 percent of the country's mobile phone production and is involved in manufacturing AK-203 rifles and BrahMos missiles.
Taking a jab at previous administrations, PM Modi remarked that prior to 2014, tax evasion was widespread and ordinary citizens were “being exploited.”
He highlighted that today, income up to Rs 12 lakh is tax-exempt, and tax rates are gradually decreasing.
In addressing investors, PM Modi emphasized that in a dynamic global landscape, reliance on others can hinder progress.
“Investing in India—and particularly in Uttar Pradesh—is a mutually beneficial opportunity,” he said, inviting both global and domestic businesses to join in the nation's growth narrative.
Reiterating his vision, PM Modi urged entrepreneurs: “Together, we must transform India into a developed nation by 2047.”
