New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, engaged in numerous bilateral conversations with delegations from Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, along with heads of international organizations, during the 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, as stated in an official announcement on Saturday.

In his speech at the summit, Goyal identified three essential pillars aimed at enhancing global partnerships.

The first pillar emphasizes the importance of facilitating two-way investments by reducing trade barriers and enabling a smoother flow of goods, services, and capital.

The second pillar focuses on bolstering technology cooperation through the co-development of cutting-edge technologies and investment in significant innovations.

Finally, the third pillar is about establishing trust through transparent governance and reliable policy frameworks that foster long-term collaboration.

During his discussion with the Director-General of the WTO, both parties exchanged insights on the current state of negotiations and reaffirmed the necessity of strengthening confidence in the multilateral trading system.

Goyal reiterated India's commitment to a rules-based, inclusive WTO and emphasized the urgency for a permanent resolution regarding Public Stock Holding for food security, the restoration of an effective two-tier dispute settlement system, and balanced agricultural reforms, including addressing pending Final Bound AMS entitlements from developed countries. Both parties agreed to engage in close consultations leading up to MC14.

In a meeting with the Armenian delegation, the Minister of Economy of Armenia expressed interest in enhancing collaboration in the Gems and Jewellery sector. Goyal pointed out the necessity to revitalize bilateral trade relationships and suggested the formation of a Joint Working Group at the Joint Secretary level, with a potential visit scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 to pinpoint areas of trade potential.

Armenia highlighted renewable energy as a sector of mutual interest, while India sought collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector. The feasibility of direct flights was also discussed, with India raising concerns regarding Non-Tariff Barriers faced by Indian pesticide exporters.

In discussions with the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection of Mauritius, the focus was on enhancing bilateral trade and investment, alongside exploring cooperation in technology and G2G procurement of essential commodities.

Both sides agreed to consider utilizing the G2G route for the procurement of petroleum products from India. India expressed interest in boosting exports of services, including IT and tourism.

The State Trading Corporation of Mauritius showed interest in importing rice, milk powder, and other products from India. Mauritius requested India’s assistance in alleviating its subsidy burden, and India offered to share its expertise in Aadhaar-based digital public infrastructure.

In discussions with the Angolan Minister, both parties focused on enhancing bilateral trade and investment, particularly in agriculture, food processing, and the Gems and Jewellery sector.

According to a ministry announcement, Angola sought India’s support in developing entrepreneurship in agriculture, mechanization, and irrigation. Collaborations in contract farming, food processing, and joint ventures in the natural diamond industry were also discussed.

The meeting with the delegation from Mozambique centered on cooperation in logistics, resilient supply chains, agriculture, skill development, education, and the oil and gas industry.

Mozambique requested India’s support in logistics development, and both parties expressed interest in establishing a G2G supply chain for agricultural exports, including rice.

In the meeting with the Venezuelan Minister, both parties agreed on diversifying their trade beyond oil and gas. Discussions included partnerships in critical minerals and expanding pharmaceutical exports from India to Venezuela.

The Venezuelan side also encouraged greater investment from Indian companies.
