Bengaluru, Nov 15 (NationPress) The Labour Commissioner Office in Pune has issued a summons to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) following numerous complaints lodged by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) regarding illegal job terminations and unlawful layoffs, the IT employee union announced on Saturday.
The hearing is set for November 18. The complaints pertain to alleged ongoing job cuts as the IT services giant intends to reduce approximately 2 percent of its global workforce.
“The Labour Commissioner Office, Pune has summoned TCS concerning multiple issues raised by NITES regarding illegal job terminations and unlawful layoffs. The hearing is scheduled for November 18, 2025,” NITES stated in a post on X.
In recent months, NITES has received a significant number of complaints from TCS employees across various regions regarding sudden terminations, forced resignations, non-payment of statutory dues, and coercive employment practices, they added.
“After assessing the grievances and supporting documents, NITES assisted the affected employees in filing formal complaints with the appropriate authority. The initiation of proceedings by the Labour Commissioner emphasizes that every employer is legally required to adhere to due process and cannot act in violation of labor laws,” the IT employee union remarked.
Employees who have encountered similar challenges are urged to step forward and assert their rights, according to NITES.
TCS had not yet responded to the NITES post on X.
“If you have faced wrongful termination, forced resignation, non-payment of dues, or any form of pressure or unfair treatment, you have legal protections available. Formally raising your grievance is a crucial step toward ensuring accountability and protecting your employment rights. NITES is dedicated to supporting IT and ITES employees who need guidance or assistance in filing complaints or understanding available legal remedies,” the post further stated.
TCS recently reported a sequential headcount decline of around 19,755 employees (as of Q2 FY216). During the company’s Q2 earnings conference in October, Chief HR Officer Sudeep Kunnumal indicated that TCS has so far released 1 percent or 6,000 employees as part of the restructuring exercise.
