India Positioned Favorably for Relations with Trump 2.0 Administration: EAM Jaishankar

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) India is in a much more advantageous position compared to many nations worldwide to cultivate deeper relations with the forthcoming Donald Trump 2.0 administration in the US, remarked External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Thursday.
Addressing an ASSOCHAM conference during the 'Viksit Bharat Summit' in the national capital, EAM Jaishankar noted that the perception of India by significant economies has seen a dramatic shift over the past decade.
When questioned about the future of India-US relations under Trump 2.0, the minister expressed, 'there are nations viewing Trump 2.0 as a political challenge; we are not. This distinction sets us apart from a substantial number of countries, placing us in a more favorable position to transform 2.0 into a deeper relationship'.
He emphasized that India must also navigate a political equation with the United States under Trump.
'This is one area where we excel, as we have consistently maintained positive political relations with Trump, who has always held a favorable view of India,' stated Jaishankar.
'Nonetheless, this does not guarantee that every interaction will be seamless. Like all nations, we may encounter certain challenges; we will address those issues,' he added.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that the US would require India in several domains where they aim to take technological advancements. The two nations need to foster an understanding based on mutual advantages and partnerships in critical areas such as emerging technologies.
The External Affairs Minister stressed that India does not wish to become merely a marketplace for another economy, unable to compete against their products flooding our market.
Additionally, Dr. Jaishankar discussed relations with Russia and the geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, specifically mentioning the shipping challenges in the Red Sea and their direct impact on India's economic interests.
Concerning the MSMEs and their significance in manufacturing, the External Affairs Minister stated that it is a top priority for the government. 'We must establish more manufacturing zones, enhance logistics, and boost our competitiveness. Progress has been made, but there is still much work ahead,' he concluded.
