New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) In an effort to enhance trade and encourage investments, Jitin Prasada, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, conducted a bilateral meeting with Oana-Silvia Țoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, in Bucharest, as stated in an official release on Tuesday.
The talks concentrated on expanding trade opportunities, attracting investments, and fortifying resilient supply chains within the broader framework of India–EU economic relations.
Both parties committed to finalizing a fair, balanced, and mutually advantageous India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of this year, aligning with the political directives established for ongoing negotiations, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The Ministers assessed the stable trade and investment relations between the two nations.
As per the ministry's report, both sides agreed to enhance supply-chain connections in key sectors such as petroleum products, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and ceramics, while facilitating collaboration in standards, testing, and investment partnerships to improve market access for both nations.
They also set out to cooperate on diversifying production and developing stronger, more resilient supply chains as reliable partners, ensuring stability and confidence for businesses in both countries.
“Building on the recent high-level interactions between the leadership of India and Romania, both parties agreed to maintain the momentum through a consistent schedule of exchanges,” the statement noted.
Additionally, they agreed to coordinate follow-up actions on streamlining trade, creating a mobility toolkit, and enhancing investor outreach to turn opportunities into real results.
India’s exports to Romania surpassed $1.03 billion in FY2024–25, with total bilateral trade reaching approximately $2.98 billion in FY2023–24.
On Monday, Romania indicated its willingness to establish a route for employing around 30,000 skilled Indian professionals annually, in accordance with the country’s labor demands.
