Currently, approximately six million people are employed within the tech and AI sectors, with India's tech industry projected to exceed $280 billion in revenue this year. Furthermore, AI is anticipated to contribute $1.7 trillion to India's economy by 2035.
The statement also highlighted that India’s tech sector is rapidly expanding, with annual revenues expected to surpass $280 billion this year.
India is home to over 1,800 Global Capability Centres, including more than 500 focused on AI. The nation boasts over 1.8 lakh startups, with nearly 89 percent of new startups launched last year integrating AI into their offerings.
According to the NASSCOM AI Adoption Index, India has achieved a score of 2.45 out of 4, indicating that 87 percent of enterprises are actively utilizing AI solutions.
Key sectors leading in AI adoption include industrial and automotive, consumer goods and retail, banking, financial services, and insurance, as well as healthcare, collectively accounting for around 60 percent of AI’s total value.
Approximately 26 percent of Indian businesses have reached AI maturity at scale, according to a recent BCG survey.
Furthermore, India has secured the third position globally in terms of Artificial Intelligence competitiveness, as reported by Stanford University’s '2025 Global AI Vibrancy Tool'.
This ranking underscores India's rapid ascent within the global AI arena.
“These undertakings lay a solid foundation for India to emerge as a global AI leader, advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047,” stated the official announcement.
