Indian Startups Revolutionising Business: Transforming Job Seekers into Job Creators, Says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) The local startup ecosystem is instigating significant transformation by democratising business and turning job seekers into job creators, according to Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, on Thursday.

Commending the introduction of the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), a pioneering industry coalition aimed at representing and promoting India’s new-age economy, the minister expressed his happiness at the growing number of founders joining the SPF, which is expected to strengthen India’s global dominance in the new-age economy.

“The forum should be instrumental in India’s quest to become Viksit Bharat by 2047, under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Goyal mentioned.

The Forum announced that it will initially limit its membership to 100 select startups. Over 30 startups have already become members, including Razorpay, CRED, Pine Labs, Groww, OYO, Swiggy, Practo, Dream11, MPL, Ixigo, and Livspace.

Founded and directed by public policy expert Shweta Rajpal Kohli, the Forum aims to enhance initiatives that showcase India’s startup ecosystem on a global platform.

“India has emerged as one of the most appealing global centers for innovation, thanks to the government’s unwavering commitment to energising the startup ecosystem and the macroeconomic stability provided by our top-notch regulators,” stated Kohli, President and CEO of SPF.

To spearhead sector-specific initiatives and policy insights, SPF has formed four specialized councils: the Fintech Policy Council (FPC), Consumer and Commerce Council (CACC), Emerging Tech & AI Council (ETAC), and New-Age Public Companies Council (NPCC).

These councils will concentrate on vital aspects of the startup ecosystem, working closely with relevant regulators and stakeholders to tackle unique challenges and opportunities within each sector.

In the near future, SPF will unveil the establishment of an advisory board and a mentor board, comprising global thought leaders and ecosystem facilitators who will guide the Forum’s initiatives.

Currently, India boasts over 1,46,000 DPIIT-recognised startups and more than 100 unicorns.
