New Delhi, Oct 6 (NationPress) The overall count of broadband subscribers in India rose from 984.69 million at the close of July 2025 to 989.58 million by the end of August, demonstrating a monthly growth rate of 0.50 percent, as revealed by government statistics on Monday.

When broken down by segment, the fixed wireless broadband subscribers (encompassing 5G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, etc.) experienced a remarkable 29.69 percent month-on-month (MoM) increase, climbing to 11.40 million from 8.79 million in July. Conversely, the count of fixed wire access subscribers fell by 3.13 percent, dropping to 44.07 million compared to 45.49 million the previous month.

In addition, the mobile wireless access users registered a slight increase, growing to 934.11 million from 930.41 million by July 31.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd continues to lead as the premier broadband (both wired and wireless) service provider, boasting a subscriber base of 501.31 million. Other prominent players include Bharti Airtel (309.22 million), Vodafone Idea (127.48 million), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (34.31 million), and Atria Convergence Technologies (2.35 million).

Earlier reports indicated that India's broadband subscriber count increased to 984.69 million by the end of July, up from 979.71 million at the conclusion of June.

Mobile broadband services led the growth with 930.41 million users, followed by fixed wired broadband at 45.49 million and fixed wireless broadband at 8.79 million.

In July, mobile broadband saw a growth of 0.39 percent, wired broadband 1.80 percent, and fixed wireless broadband led with a surge of 7.09 percent.
