New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) The government announced that India's broadband subscriber base has surpassed the 1 billion (100 crore) milestone in November. Over the past decade, the broadband subscriber count has surged by more than sixfold.
As reported by the Ministry of Communications, the number of broadband subscribers rose from 131.49 million (13.15 crore) at the end of November 2015 to an impressive 1 billion (100.37 crore) by the end of November 2025.
Furthermore, the overall count of Internet subscribers in India grew from 1002.85 million in the April-June quarter (Q1 FY26) to 1017.81 million by the end of the July-September period (Q2 FY26), reflecting a quarterly increase of 1.49 percent, according to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The data indicates that out of 1,070.81 million internet subscribers, there are 44.42 million wired subscribers and 973.39 million wireless subscribers.
Additionally, the broadband Internet subscriber base grew by 1.63 percent from 979.71 million at the end of June to 995.63 million at the end of September this year. Conversely, the narrowband Internet subscriber count declined from 23.14 million in June to 22.18 million by the close of September.
Similarly, wireline subscriptions fell from 47.49 million at the end of the April-June quarter to 46.61 million by the end of September, marking a quarterly decrease of 1.84 percent. However, on a year-over-year (YoY) basis, wireline subscriptions saw an increase of 26.21 percent at the end of the July-September quarter.
In another positive trend, the monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) for wireless services rose by 10.67 percent YoY during the quarter.
