New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) India’s motorcycle sector experienced remarkable growth in the last month of the recently concluded fiscal year 2024-25, with top manufacturers announcing noteworthy sales figures.
Royal Enfield and Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) achieved outstanding results in March, as reflected in their sales data.
Royal Enfield, recognized as the largest manufacturer of middleweight motorcycles globally, celebrated a major achievement by exceeding one million units sold for the first time in a financial year.
In FY 2024-25, the Bullet producer sold a total of 10,09,900 units, marking an 11 per cent increase compared to the previous year. Of this total, domestic sales reached 9,02,757 units, while exports surged by 37 per cent, hitting 1,07,143 units, according to the company.
In a similar vein, Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded unprecedented sales of 12,56,161 units in FY2024-25, reflecting an 11 per cent growth over the previous year’s figures.
Domestic sales significantly contributed to this success, rising 14 per cent to reach 10,45,662 units. Suzuki's performance in March 2025 was also remarkable, achieving an all-time high of 1,25,930 units sold.
Domestic sales alone were an impressive 1,05,736 units, showcasing a 23 per cent growth from March 2024, stated the company.
On the other hand, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), noted for its electric commercial vehicles, continued to lead the electric vehicle (EV) market.
For the fourth consecutive year, MLMML dominated the L5 category of commercial EVs, achieving a noteworthy 24.2 per cent EV penetration in FY25, according to the company’s announcement.
Key milestones included selling over 2 lakh commercial EVs and 1 lakh units of its flagship electric auto, the Treo.
In March 2025, MLMML maintained its strong performance by introducing new products, including the Treo with a metal body and the Mahindra ZEO, the company’s first-ever 4W electric commercial vehicle.
The impressive performance of these major players highlights the increasing demand for both traditional and electric two-wheelers, as well as the nation’s transition toward more sustainable transport options.
