New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, announced in Parliament on Monday that 8.17 crore job vacancies have been made available for all jobseekers, including women, SC/ST, and EWS, through the government’s National Career Service (NCS) portal as of November 20 this year.

In a written response to a Lok Sabha inquiry, the minister also revealed that by November 20, over 6.02 crore jobseekers, including women, SC/ST, and EWS categories, along with more than 54.27 lakh employers, have registered on the NCS portal since its inception.

He explained that the Ministry of Labour and Employment operates the NCS portal as a comprehensive platform to deliver career-related services, encompassing job listings from both private and public sectors, details on online and offline job fairs, job search and matching, career counseling, vocational guidance, and information about skill development courses and training programs.

Furthermore, he stated that the NCS initiative also aims to establish Model Career Centres (MCCs), in collaboration with state governments and institutions, to provide employment services. So far, the government has approved 407 Model Career Centres.

Mandaviya recently referenced the World Economic Forum’s ‘The Future of Jobs Report 2025’, indicating that India’s unemployment rate stands at 2 percent, the lowest among G20 nations.

He emphasized that job creation has occurred across various sectors alongside India’s rapid economic growth and acknowledged the government schemes facilitating this progress.

In the past year, the ministry has established MoUs with ten major organizations, including Amazon and Swiggy, leading to the mobilization of nearly five lakh job vacancies, according to the minister.

Focusing on the government's commitment to youth employment, Mandaviya recalled that at the outset of its third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a package of five flagship schemes with a total budget of Rs 2 lakh crore aimed at enhancing employment, skills development, and opportunities for 4.1 crore youth.

A key aspect of this initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), which has an allocation of Rs 99,446 crore, intended to promote the creation of over 3.5 crore jobs in two years, with 1.92 crore positions designated for first-time job entrants.
