New Delhi, July 31 (NationPress) The National Career Service (NCS) portal has seen registrations surpassing 5.67 crore job seekers as of July 14. Among these, 3.03 crore are male, 2.63 crore are female, 1.55 lakh do not specify gender, and 8,535 identify as transgender. This information was shared in Parliament on Thursday.
Additionally, over 6.49 crore job vacancies have been made available via the NCS portal, according to Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, who provided a written response to questions in the Rajya Sabha.
The NCS portal serves as a comprehensive platform for career services, offering insights into job opportunities in both the private and government sectors, details on online and offline job fairs, job matching, career counseling, vocational guidance, and skill development courses.
On August 26, 2021, the Ministry also introduced the eShram portal (eshram.gov.in), aimed at establishing a complete National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) linked to Aadhaar.
The eShram portal is designed to register and assist unorganised workers by providing a Universal Account Number (UAN) on a self-declaration basis. As of July 21, 2025, more than 30.95 crore unorganised workers have registered on the eShram portal.
Furthermore, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Payroll Data reflects employment levels in the formal sector. Between 2020-21 and 2024-25, over 5.99 crore net subscribers joined the EPFO.
Additionally, more than 7.67 crore newly registered employees contributed under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) during the same period, as reported by the minister.
Karandlaje also mentioned that the Ministry of MSME is executing the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to help entrepreneurs establish new ventures in the non-farm sector, aiming to create job opportunities for traditional artisans and unemployed youth.
