New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) The total count of unorganised workers recorded on the Centre's eShram portal for social welfare benefits under various government initiatives has surpassed 30.95 crore (as of July 22), as reported to Parliament on Monday.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment introduced the eShram portal (eshram.gov.in) on August 26, 2021, aimed at developing a detailed National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), linked with Aadhaar.
The eShram platform is designed to register and assist unorganised workers, offering them a Universal Account Number (UAN) based on self-declaration, stated Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje in a written response in the Lok Sabha.
This portal serves as a “One-Stop-Solution”, consolidating various social security schemes into a single platform. Registered unorganised workers can access social security schemes and review the benefits they have utilized so far.
The minister emphasized that to date, 14 schemes from different Central Ministries and Departments have been integrated with the eShram portal, providing benefits and access to social security, insurance, or skill development programs, including Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PMSVANidhi), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), and Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
Additionally, programs such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY), One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC), and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandna Yojana (PMMVY) are also integrated with this portal.
Beyond these programs, eShram is connected with Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM), National Career Service (NCS), Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG), Digital Locker (DigiLocker), myScheme, and the Open Government Data Platform (OGD).
