Seoul, April 17 (NationPress) LG CNS, an IT subsidiary of South Korea's LG Electronics, announced on Thursday that it has formalized agreements to construct electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities and smart city initiatives in the United States.

In collaboration with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, LG CNS will set up and manage EV charging stations at the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), a former military supply depot currently being transformed into a contemporary commercial and manufacturing center.

As part of the Pilots at BAT initiative, the company will also deploy a charging and discharging control system, along with a mobile application that offers real-time energy consumption information for users, as reported by LG CNS, according to Yonhap news agency.

Additionally, LG CNS has entered into a separate agreement with a U.S. government agency to establish smart city infrastructure in Hogansville, Georgia.

This project entails the installation of smart poles and a unified control system aimed at enhancing public safety, connectivity, and urban management through AI-driven solutions.

LG CNS aims to broaden its eco-friendly smart city projects across the U.S., leveraging its proficiency in digital transformation and sustainable infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor, South Korea's prominent automobile manufacturer, announced on Thursday that it plans to introduce the all-new Palisade sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the United States later this year.

The second-generation Palisade SUV, a completely revamped model after six years, has been available in the domestic market since January.

Hyundai Motor showcased the new flagship SUV at the New York International Auto Show, which will continue until April 27, ahead of its U.S. launch in the latter half of the year, as stated by the company.

The updated Palisade is equipped with either a 3.5-liter gasoline engine or a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline hybrid engine for the U.S. market, according to a press release from the company.

In Korea, variants with a 2.5-liter turbo gasoline engine or a 2.5-liter turbo gasoline hybrid engine have been released.

Hyundai Motor is ongoingly investing in extended range electric vehicles (EREV), hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, as well as gasoline and gasoline hybrid models in response to consumer preferences, remarked the company's CEO, Jose Munoz.
