Mumbai, Sep 21 (NationPress) The total market capitalisation of seven of India’s top 10 most valued firms increased by Rs 1,18,328.29 crore last week, with State Bank of India and Bharti Airtel standing out as the primary beneficiaries in a buoyant equity market.
Throughout the week, the BSE benchmark index experienced a rise of 721.53 points, equivalent to 0.88 percent, showcasing robust investor confidence.
Among those that gained, State Bank of India saw its market value surge by Rs 35,953.25 crore, elevating it to Rs 7,95,910 crore, while Bharti Airtel also enjoyed a significant increase of Rs 33,214.77 crore, bringing its valuation to Rs 11,18,952.64 crore.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) contributed an additional Rs 12,952.75 crore, raising its market cap to Rs 11,46,879.47 crore.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) advanced by Rs 12,460.25 crore to a total of Rs 5,65,612.92 crore, while Infosys climbed by Rs 6,127.73 crore, reaching Rs 6,39,901.03 crore.
HDFC Bank saw a slight increase of Rs 230.31 crore, bringing its valuation to Rs 14,84,816.26 crore.
On the downside, ICICI Bank experienced a decline of Rs 10,707.87 crore, resulting in a total value of Rs 10,01,654.46 crore.
Bajaj Finance dropped by Rs 6,346.93 crore, settling at Rs 6,17,892.72 crore, while Hindustan Unilever lost Rs 5,039.87 crore, bringing its total to Rs 6,01,225.16 crore.
By the week's end, HDFC Bank remained one of the leading firms in terms of market value, followed closely by TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, and LIC.
In contrast, the preceding week, which ended on September 7, saw a combined market valuation of these seven firms increase by Rs 1,06,250.95 crore, with Bajaj Finance being the largest gainer as the BSE benchmark advanced by 901.11 points, or 1.12 percent.
