PM Modi inaugurates Bharat RE 2026 in Delhi, 130+ countries join clean energy summit
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, 2 November 2026, inaugurated the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 (Bharat RE 2026) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, addressing a gathering of global policymakers, investors, and industry leaders drawn from more than 130 countries. The four-day event, running through 5 November, marks India's most ambitious clean energy diplomatic push to date, according to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Scale and Participation
Bharat RE 2026 will host over 40 ministers from participating nations, making it one of the largest ministerial-level clean energy gatherings India has convened. Nine countries and regional groupings — Australia, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom — will participate as formal Country Partners, lending the event significant multilateral weight.
Thirteen states and Union Territories are also showcasing their renewable energy potential and manufacturing capabilities. They include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Three Platforms, One Venue
Bharat RE 2026 is being held alongside two other major clean energy events: the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH). The convergence of all three on a single platform is deliberate — organisers aim to create a unified negotiating and deal-making space for solar, hydrogen, and broader clean energy investments.
While Bharat RE focuses on investment and technology partnerships across the clean energy sector, the ISA Assembly is directed at advancing international solar finance and institutional capacity. The ICGH, meanwhile, will address green hydrogen technologies and large-scale deployment pathways. Notably, this is the first time all three platforms have been co-located, signalling a strategic shift toward integrated clean energy diplomacy.
What the Expo Features
The accompanying Expo will feature more than 400 exhibitors presenting advanced technologies, Indian manufacturing capabilities, and clean energy solutions across solar and wind power, green hydrogen, energy storage, and other emerging sectors. The exhibition is designed to facilitate business-to-business, business-to-government, and government-to-government engagements aimed at unlocking investments and accelerating project development.
Plenary sessions, ministerial discussions, CEO roundtables, and dedicated country and state sessions are scheduled across the four days. The summit's theme — 'Invest. Innovate. Inspire.' — reflects its dual commercial and diplomatic mandate.
Building on RE-INVEST Legacy
Bharat RE 2026 succeeds RE-INVEST, India's flagship renewable energy investment summit series, expanding its scope from primarily domestic investment mobilisation to a broader global engagement platform. This comes amid India's push to position itself as a manufacturing and technology hub for clean energy supply chains, a priority underscored by the Centre's Production-Linked Incentive commitments in solar modules and electrolysers.
With global clean energy investment increasingly shaped by supply chain realignments and net-zero commitments, India's ability to convert summit-level engagement into binding partnerships and project pipelines will be closely watched in the weeks ahead.
