Has Musk's Net Worth Surged Past $800 Billion After SpaceX's Acquisition of xAI?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 4 (NationPress) The net worth of US entrepreneur Elon Musk has skyrocketed beyond the $800 billion threshold following SpaceX’s acquisition of his artificial intelligence company xAI, establishing him as the wealthiest individual in history by a significant margin.
Musk's financial standing has reached approximately $852 billion, which is nearly $578 billion more than the second richest person globally, Google co-founder Larry Page, whose wealth is estimated at $281 billion.
This merger has propelled the total value of the combined entity to $1.25 trillion and contributed around $84 billion to Musk’s wealth, as per reports.
Prior to this merger, Musk held about 42 percent of SpaceX valued at $800 billion and approximately 49 percent of xAI, which was valued at $250 billion after a recent private fundraising. Following the merger, Musk’s stake in the combined company increased to 43 percent, valued at about $542 billion, making SpaceX his largest asset.
Additionally, Musk maintains around 12 percent ownership of Tesla, estimated at $178 billion, alongside Tesla stock options valued at $124 billion. Besides these, Musk is also set to receive a shareholder-approved Tesla compensation package that could yield up to $1 trillion in additional Tesla stock over the next decade, contingent upon meeting performance targets.
Over the last four months, Musk has achieved several wealth milestones including crossing $500 billion, $600 billion, and $700 billion, primarily driven by the valuation increases of SpaceX and a ruling by the Delaware Supreme Court that reinstated his Tesla options.
Musk previously indicated that SpaceX's Starship is set to commence the deployment of the highly advanced V3 Starlink satellites into orbit by 2026, with each launch offering over 20 times the capacity compared to the current Falcon launches of the V2 Starlink satellites.
This advancement will enable launches “every hour, carrying 200 tons per flight” and ultimately transporting millions of tons to orbit and beyond, Musk elaborated on his ambitious plans.
Moreover, Starship will also facilitate the launch of the next generation of direct-to-mobile satellites, ensuring comprehensive cellular coverage across the globe, he added.
