The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has launched a recruitment drive for 224 positions across engineering, operations, IT, and security functions for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor — India's first bullet train project — as construction activity on the corridor accelerates. The notification was issued on 23 June, with application deadlines set for July 2026.

Breakdown of Vacancies

Of the 224 total openings, 209 fall under non-executive categories and 15 are executive-level roles. Operations-related posts account for 55 vacancies, covering train managers, station managers, depot controllers, and operations controllers.

The engineering stream carries the largest volume of positions. Junior engineer vacancies are distributed as follows: 47 in electrical, 31 in civil/track, 20 in signalling and telecom, 14 in rolling stock (electrical), 3 in rolling stock (mechanical), and 5 in automatic fare collection systems. Deputy engineer posts are also available across civil/track, operations, electrical, signalling and telecom, and rolling stock disciplines.

Executive and Technology Roles

At the executive level, NHSRCL is hiring assistant managers for safety functions and senior professionals for technology-focused positions, including Deputy General Manager (IT), Senior Manager (Data Analytics), and Senior Manager (Cloud Infrastructure). These roles reflect the corporation's emphasis on digital infrastructure as the high-speed rail network prepares for eventual operations.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Candidates must be no older than 45 years as of 31 May 2026 and must hold at least three years of relevant experience in operations and maintenance with Indian Railways, government-run metro systems, or Regional Rapid Transit Systems (RRTS). Educational requirements range from engineering diplomas to BE or B.Tech degrees in the relevant discipline, depending on the post.

Crucially, the recruitment is being conducted on an absorption basis, meaning only candidates currently employed in eligible railway-linked organisations can apply. Shortlisted applicants will undergo a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and a medical fitness examination.

Application Deadlines

The last date to apply for executive posts is 9 July, while applications for non-executive positions close on 14 July. Interested candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are advised to review the official NHSRCL notification for post-specific requirements before applying.

The recruitment drive signals that the MAHSR project is moving from heavy civil construction toward staffing the operational and technical workforce it will need ahead of its targeted launch.
