New Delhi, Oct 28 (NationPress) Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia was actively involved in three High-Level Task Force meetings, advocating for the integrated enhancement of tourism, agriculture, and transport sectors throughout the North Eastern Region, as reported by the government on Tuesday.
The High-Level Task Force (HLLTF) meetings took place on October 27, gathering the chief ministers of the respective states, including Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Sikkim, according to an official statement.
These task forces are promoting collaboration between states, facilitating policy alignment, and ensuring that development initiatives are regionally cohesive rather than confined to individual states, the statement emphasized.
Chaired by Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, the HLTF on the North East Economic Corridor evaluated short, medium, and long-term strategies to advance roads, railways, air transportation, inland waterways, energy solutions, digital connections, trade paths, and border trade infrastructure across the North Eastern region.
Feedback was solicited from Meghalaya, Assam, and Manipur, with Scindia urging the Mizoram government to compile a final report reflecting the gathered insights.
During the HLTF focused on Tourism, led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, participants examined initial recommendations for developing world-class tourism circuits and implementing a grassroots action plan.
The HLTF addressing Agriculture and Horticulture, chaired by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, assessed the progress of ongoing efforts within the agriculture and horticulture domains across the Northeastern Region, the statement noted.
The Ministry of Development of the North-East Region mentioned that attendees, including high-ranking state officials, APEDA representatives, and NABARD personnel, discussed strategies to improve value addition, processing, and market connections for essential agri-horti products.
Discussions within the Task Force were centered on establishing integrated cold chain systems, promoting organic farming practices, cultivating in clusters, and branding local products with a unified 'Organic' label, according to the government statement.
