New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) India stands as OpenAI's second-largest market globally, following the US, and it has the potential to become the leading market soon, as stated by CEO Sam Altman.

OpenAI recognizes India as a swiftly evolving market, emphasizing efforts to improve AI accessibility and affordability, he noted.

“The growth is astonishing, and what Indian users are achieving with AI is truly impressive,” Altman remarked during the launch of GPT-5, the newest iteration of the AI system behind ChatGPT.

He added that the company is collaborating with local partners to make its offerings more effective and accessible for Indian consumers and plans to visit the country in September.

In June, OpenAI, in collaboration with the government’s IndiaAI mission, initiated the first international expansion of its education platform, which aims to broaden access to AI skills training across the nation.

The initiative, termed ‘OpenAI Academy India’, seeks to enhance access to AI education and resources, leveraging India’s rapidly growing developer community, digital infrastructure, and network of startups and innovators.

This will support the IndiaAI Mission’s 'FutureSkills' initiative by expanding AI skills training for a diverse range of learners — including students, developers, educators, civil servants, nonprofit leaders, and small business owners. “India is among the most dynamic nations globally for AI development, with rapid adoption and innovation,” stated Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer at OpenAI.

GPT-5 integrates the best aspects of ChatGPT into a cohesive experience designed to deliver the best answer for users consistently.

“We are unveiling GPT-5, our most advanced AI system to date. GPT-5 represents a substantial leap in intelligence compared to our prior models, showcasing top-tier performance across coding, mathematics, writing, healthcare, visual perception, and more. It is a unified system that discerns when to respond quickly and when to engage in deeper thinking to provide expert-level answers,” the company elaborated.

GPT-5 is accessible to all users, with Plus subscribers enjoying increased usage and Pro subscribers accessing GPT-5 Pro, a version designed for extended reasoning to deliver even more thorough and precise answers.

“GPT-5 is a unified system featuring a smart, efficient model for most inquiries, a deeper reasoning model (GPT-5 thinking) for complex issues, and a real-time router that swiftly determines the appropriate model based on conversation type, complexity, tool demands, and user intent,” the company emphasized.
