Passenger Vehicles Achieve Record Sales in November in India

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) Passenger vehicles in India recorded their highest-ever November sales at 3.48 lakh units, reflecting a growth of 4.1 percent when compared to the same month last year, as per data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday.
Despite the absence of the Diwali festival in November, the two-wheeler segment achieved sales of 16.05 lakh units, surpassing the 16 lakh units threshold for the first time in a non-Diwali November, the figures indicated.
The overall production of vehicles during November 2024, which includes passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, and quadricycles, totaled 24,07,351 units.
“The demand momentum observed in October during the festive season has persisted into November for the industry overall,” stated Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM.
Data from auto manufacturers earlier this month revealed an increase in car and SUV sales in the domestic market during November, with market leaders Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Tata Motors, and Toyota Kirloskar reporting higher dispatches to dealers.
Maruti Suzuki saw its total domestic passenger vehicle sales rise to 141,312 units in November this year, compared to 134,158 units in the same month last year. The SUV segment accounted for significant growth, with sales of popular models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Jimny soaring to 59,003 units in November, up from 49,016 units in November 2023.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a monthly sales volume of 25,586 units in November 2024, representing a 44 percent increase from 17,818 units sold in the same month last year. Additionally, the company exported 1,140 units.
“Our diverse lineup, ranging from hatchbacks to SUVs, continues to provide customized mobility solutions that cater to various lifestyles,” remarked Sabari Manohar, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM.
The year 2024 has surpassed the company's expectations, he added.
Tata Motors experienced a 2 percent year-on-year increase in passenger vehicle sales for November this year, totaling 47,117 units.
