SUV Sales Drive Growth in November Car Market

New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) A notable rise in the sales of cars and SUVs was observed in the domestic market throughout November, with leading companies such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Tata Motors, and Toyota Kirloskar experiencing an uptick in deliveries to dealers during the month.
The total domestic passenger vehicle sales for Maruti Suzuki climbed to 141,312 units in November this year, up from 134,158 units in the same month last year. The SUV segment was a significant contributor to this growth, with sales of popular models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Jimny rising to 59,003 units from 49,016 units in November 2023.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a monthly sales volume of 25,586 units in November 2024, marking a 44 percent increase compared to 17,818 units sold in the same month last year. Additionally, the company exported 1,140 units.
“Our varied portfolio, which ranges from hatchbacks to SUVs, consistently provides tailored mobility solutions that align with diverse lifestyles,” stated TKM Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business Sabari Manohar.
The year 2024 has surpassed the company’s expectations, he noted.
Tata Motors achieved a 2 percent year-on-year increase in passenger vehicle sales in November this year, totaling 47,117 units. However, the company saw a 1 percent decline in commercial vehicle sales, which amounted to 27,636 units. Overall, the company’s total vehicle sales were slightly elevated at 74,753 vehicles in Nov 2024, compared to 74,172 units in November 2023.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd reported total monthly sales of 61,252 units in November 2024, with domestic sales reaching 48,246 units and exports at 13,006 units. The company experienced a slight reduction in total sales.
HMIL Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg remarked: “HMIL's commitment to enhancing SUV dominance continued in November, with SUVs accounting for 68.8 percent of our total domestic sales. We also strengthened HMIL’s presence in rural India, achieving a record monthly rural contribution of 22.1 percent in November. Our innovative Hy-CNG technology further boosted HMIL’s CNG sales, contributing 14.4 percent in November 2024,” he added.
