Bengaluru, Dec 4 (NationPress) Pincode, a branch of PhonePe, declared on Thursday its intention to concentrate entirely on enhancing its B2B Business Solutions tailored for offline retailers, while it will discontinue its B2C shopping app.

Pincode, recognized as PhonePe’s hyperlocal quick commerce platform, has collaborated closely with offline businesses to address vital issues such as limited outreach, delivery challenges, and pricing pressures.

Utilizing data-driven insights, the platform aids retailers in optimizing their product offerings based on actual customer demand, thus ensuring greater relevance, quicker turnover, and enhanced profit margins.

“Pincode’s goal is to empower Indian offline shopkeepers with cutting-edge technology solutions that facilitate their business growth and help them stay competitive against modern e-commerce and quick commerce entities. Consequently, managing another B2C quick commerce app was diverting our attention from our primary mission, which is to support offline business partners in achieving operational efficiency, better margins, visibility, and growth within their existing offline operations,” stated Sameer Nigam, Founder and Group CEO of PhonePe.

“As part of this strategic pivot, we will direct the entire Pincode team’s resources towards speeding up the development and scaling of a comprehensive suite of B2B business solutions for offline businesses throughout India. Pincode is already providing inventory management, order management, and additional ERP services to businesses, as well as offering B2B direct sourcing and replenishment solutions for select categories,” added Vivek Lohcheb, CEO of Pincode.

Point of View

PhonePe's decision to pivot Pincode towards B2B solutions reflects a growing trend in the retail sector, prioritizing operational efficiency and technological empowerment for offline businesses. This strategic focus is crucial in a competitive landscape dominated by rapid e-commerce growth.
