Seoul, Oct 21 (NationPress) South Korea's most significant export promotion fair commenced on Tuesday, kicking off a three-week event designed to draw international attention to Korean businesses as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit approaches later this month, according to the Ministry of Industry.
The 2025 Boom-up Korea Week is scheduled to continue until November 7, attracting approximately 1,700 international companies from 70 nations to explore business collaborations with around 4,000 Korean enterprises, as reported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Resources, via Yonhap news agency.
The ministry anticipates that this year's event will facilitate over 10,000 export consultations, potentially resulting in export agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) valued at a total of $350 million.
Additionally, the fair will host 28 associated exhibitions aimed at presenting innovations across various sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, future mobility, shipbuilding, and biohealth.
"By merging the enthusiasm of our entrepreneurs with robust government backing, we aspire to highlight the brand strength of Korean companies on a global stage and assist them in leveraging this event as a springboard for international expansion beyond APEC," stated Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo.
The APEC summit is set to occur in the southeastern city of Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1, accompanied by numerous business activities that will unite leaders from APEC member economies and global corporations.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Yonhap reported on the final arrangements for the APEC summit, which is slated to commence in the southeastern city of Gyeongju.
The two-day summit is scheduled to begin on October 31, gathering representatives from the 21 APEC member economies. Construction of the summit venue and related facilities has been finalized, with last-minute inspections being conducted for this major international assembly.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo of North Gyeongsang Province, where Gyeongju is situated, along with Mayor Joo Nak-young, inspected the preparations earlier today, touring various locations and utilizing a shuttle bus within the city.
